LINKEDIN MARKETING
How to Level up Your LinkedIn During a Job Search
From Andrew Seaman of LinkedIn Careers:
LinkedIn is a big part of the working world. While I don't often provide LinkedIn-specific advice in this newsletter, I try to include actionable advice whenever possible to help you take full advantage of the platform.
I recently talked with LinkedIn Top Voice Tristan Layfield for an episode of Career Talks. We discussed many things a person can do to take full advantage of LinkedIn during their job search, including reaching All-Star status and using Open to Work.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Free Social Media Templates
Dash Hudson has a plethora of free social media templates to download, including an Influencer Checklist Scorecard and a Social Media Audit Template. Plenty of great resources on this page!
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)
How to Use AI in Your Job Search
When it comes to the job sector, artificial intelligence can get a bad rap. Many media outlets have made a lot out of robots replacing people’s jobs across industries.
Marketers are already learning that AI is something that you can use to be more effective and productive in your role - 68% of our members said that it will help automate routine tasks followed by improving customer experience (46%). Not just that, AI can also boost your career by helping in your job search.
If you’re not embracing AI already, you should be. There are loads of great AI tools out there that can take over automated tasks and even help get creative juices flowing. But how can you use AI to boost your chances of landing the job of your dreams?
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO
Who Killed the Video Star: The Story of MTV
As a Gen-Xer, I stumbled upon this fascinating podcast about the history of MTV and cannot wait for the last two episodes to drop so I can see how the story ends! I have already learned so much about the early days of the network and why they did what they did over the years (MTV Spring Break, Real World, Remote Control, etc., etc.) and why they basically stopped being a network that played music videos 24/7. I highly recommend it, especially if you were an MTV kid!
For nearly four decades MTV defined youth culture -- today it's a shell of its former self. What happened? How did MTV build a brand that stayed relevant to young viewers for decades, just to throw it all away?
Who Killed the Video Star is a new 8-episode Audacy original about the rise and fall of MTV hosted by former MTV VJ, Dave Holmes.
WHAT I’M WATCHING
True Detective on Max
I finally finished up the last season of True Detective (skipping season 2 per pretty much everyone in the world!) and loved it. Mahershala was sooooo good as the three different versions of himself. It really felt like a pretty strong resolution at the end too. Have you watched all the seasons of this show? What was your favorite?
WHAT I’M READING
The Girl on the Porch
I am currently reading one of the two free books I got from Richard Chizmar, both signed! I’m about halfway through this one and still don’t know what the twist is going to be. It’s a pretty short book, so I’ll find out soon enough. Have you read any of Chizmar’s stuff, like the Gwendy series or the Boogeyman series?
ENTERTAINMENT
Exclusive Interview – Milo Manheim & Fiona Palomo on Journey to Bethlehem
Journey to Bethlehem is a new musical retelling of the nativity story and stars Fiona Palomo (Outer Banks, Control Z), Milo Manheim (Disney’s Zombies series, Prom Pact, School Spirits), Antonio Banderas (The Mask Of Zorro, Uncharted, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny), and artists Joel Smallbone (King & Country, Priceless) and Lecrae (Good Lord, Breakthrough) and is in theaters now. I caught up with Milo and Fiona over Zoom and asked them what it was like to work together on this holiday special, how they approached working on a musical, and what they hoped people would take away from the film.
Video Corner — Milo Manheim and Fiona Palomo Chat 'Journey to Bethlehem' with Antonio Banderas and Joel Smallbone
